Extravagant Ones (and Twos, Threes and Fours):
This year's Extravaganza is setting all records at configuring and reconfiguring! Weather forecast for the arrival of Group One this Friday is set to be in the 90's, thereby assuring (a) that whatever (substantial) snow is left in the higher elevations will soon melt away, (b) their already excessive flow rates will thus increase over the weekend and (c) that all the local Missoula rivers, by odds that have increased from 50-50 to now 10:1, more than likely are going to be unsafe and unfishable this weekend.
SOOO, in a decision that will be cast in stone around 10:00 a.m. MDT tomorrow, Thursday, morning, the (frankly, exciting) now more than tentative game plan is, for the first time in Extravaganza history, to seek out Group One fishing on the majestic Missouri River ("the Mo"--no separate license required) on BOTH fishing days for Group One. Under this expected scenario, our group will leave at 6:30 a.m. on each of Saturday mornings for Craig, MT (a 2 1/2 hour drive), we will meet up with our guide there around 9:00 a.m. and launch from several put in points to fish the 5,000 fish/mile wide and meandering Mo, beginning our return trip around 6:00 p.m. (while the guides overnight in Craig). Head guide and outfitter Drew Miller is fishing the Mo today and he and I will make the final call in the a.m.

p.s. For those of you Ones who think that such a diversion might be a penalty, yesterday's GH scout boat on the Mo boated over 30 fish, 10 of which were 20"+ in length!
