An Ode To It All
Oding our way is Group Two's Tom Stallard (Tom--I think that Eugene Field would be proud!):
ODE TO ROCK CREEK RON, KATHY & MONTANA
(with apologies to Eugene Field)
The little dog "Sir" is tired and weary
But sturdy and staunch he stands
And his mistress Kathy is tired of Costo
And the caluses formed on her hands.
Time was when Rock Creek Ron was fresh
And "the scene of it all" most fair
That was the time when our most excellent hosts
Awaited guests soon to be there!
Now take the right flights and bring the right gear
Then lots of partying and plenty of cheer.
So dreaming of fish to bed we did head
Early to rise to stay in good stead.
As we drifted its rivers, Montana the great,
Rewarded us with fish but not for the plate.
Oh the beauty is wonderous, the environment sublime
The guides also cooked for us every lunch time.
Ay, faithful to Ron and Kathy we stand--
Each in the same old group,
Awaiting the opportunity to lend a hand
Thankful for time in a wonderful land.
And we wonder as we wait the long months through
From our homes both here and there--
Will Ron and Kathy continue another year
To do this for we privileged few?
