Group Four has now winged it's way home, and this is the report from their final day of fishing.
The Crowley boat of Paul and Christine was down on the lower Blackfoot river. They endured an hour of rain and managed to bring 8 fish on board the boat, with a nice 16" brown being the bigh fish on the day.
Jeff McNear and Jill Spicer saw their fishing productivity increase by an order of magnitude. After 1 fish yesterday, the boat landed 10 today! Another 16" brown was the large fish, and rookie Jill landed her first fish ever, and she even tried to tell a story about her first big fish that got away! We've all heard that one before Jill!
Carl Payatt and Don Valdez were back on the high waters of the Bitterroot, and were doing us all a favor by cleaning out the river. They caught wire, a sweater, tree bark, and several junky whitefish, in addition to about 6 trout each. Carl backed up his strong showing yesterday with a 20" rainbow, for entry into the Twenty Inch Club, bravo!
Don:
Peter Pelham and Michael Besselievre also improved significantly in their second day of fishing. The two reported a hot start, with a couple fish in the first half hour. There were tons of hits as well, the fish were biting! Michael did especially well, hauling them in all afternoon, rainbows and cutthroats.

Scott McAdams and Ron Beeler had a collection of 'firsts' out there today. 1st first, Ron hit the Grand Slam! He caught a Rainbow, a cutthroat, a cutbow, a brown and a bull! The 2nd first, today the men caught not a single junk fish, it was all trout. And the 3rd first, it was their first day on the Blackfoot, that most senic of rivers. They changed tactics as well, and landed all their fish on dry flies, no nymphing today. Big fish was 19 63/64th" for Scott (ha ha).
None of these whitefish!
Larry and Ann Klaustermeier were next. Ann reports outfishing Larry, who disputes the claim, but we have all seen him cheat at horseshoes, so the veracity of his protest is in doubt. Ann landed a big 17" brown that put up quite a fight out on the Blackfoot, and the boat landed 19 fish total.

For the second day in a row, Alex defeated father Peter Narodny in their bet to see who catches the biggest fish, Alex netting himself a 19" trout and another $20 out of Peter's wallet. Both hooked into the same fish at the same time as well! There was some debate over whose fish it was, with a fly in the mouth, and another fly in the tail!
That extra 20 bones sure feels good!

Chad Overway and Jeanne Montague had an awesome day on the Blackfoot, going for 17 miles! 7 miles of whitewater and 10 miles of fishywater. And the fishing was good in that fishy water, they stopped counting fish when the tally hit 40, which included 8 double hookups! Both report feeling good out there and having terrific control of the casting and mending. Big fish was an 18" rainbow.

Final boat to report for the second consecutive day was the Lynn Turnbull Dave Studeman boat. These two pro anglers boated 75 fish in 2 days!! And today they went for broke, putting their big streamers down deep to try to coax up some whoppers. Some real meathunting down there! An 18" Brown was the prize fish of the day.

Which means Carl wins the Yellow Hat for the day! Congratulations Carl and to our other fishermen and women who hit the Grand Slam also recieving Yellow Hats!
After the reports it was time for that certain annual Horse$h#% contest between Larry Klaustermeier and Chad Overway versus RCR and Scott McAdams. For the third year in a row, thanks in part to a scoring discrepancy, Larry and Chad are the winners, and recieve the Golden Horseshoes!

Then it was time for dinner, where we were joined by our IWFF film crew and their families. After the end of Group award ceremony it was time for the main event!
The IWFF film crew debuted their new film, a 20 minute look at what goes on at the Extravaganza. If you recall, they filmed Group Two and then took the 20 hours of footage back to the Roxy theater to edit it down.
I have to say, they did and AMAZING job! The film features stunning cinematography and professional style editing and did a marvelous job of really capturing the spirit of the Extravaganza, both the nature and the people. I really can't wait for you all to see it, I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did!
