Happy Fourth of July!!
To all of you out in Extravaganzaland, we here in the glories of Montana wish each and every one of you a very Happy Fourth of July!!
As seen above, "Cowboy Jeff" Freeman currently oversees the roasting of our annual whole pig that will be the guest of honor for the expected 85+ wonderful folks that will join us later in the day for our "Thank You Feast" for our wonderful friends at the incomparable Grizzly Hackle. Starting with Managing Partner Dan Shepherd and combing through the entire guide and shop staff, this special group of outdoor specialists, now for the sixth year in a row, have flawlessly and extravagantly treated our Extravagant Ones, Twos, Fours and (now) Threes (collectively now "Ones") to the renewed times of their lives for all Extravagant veterans and, for our abundant number of rookies, have opened doors and vistas to the soul that seldom, if ever, have been witnessed.
Highlighting today's events will be the first public showing of "Extravaganza 2008: A Journey To The Soul"--the wonderful epic that the six budding film makers (and now full fledged cinematographers) sponsored with and through the Missoula-based International Wildlife Film Festival first conceived, then filmed in high definition and earlier this week masterfully edited into a true testimony for all that which the Extravaganza has and currently stands for, to wit: An opportunity for, this year 72, individuals to witness and see first hand, both visually and emotionally, all that Montana and their comrades in rods have to offer. Captured in this truly masterful two week accomplishment is a film of multiple stories that soon will be posted on Der Blog for all the world to see forever.
After the (multiple) showings of the latest in the showcase of classic IWFF film projects, Extravaganza Headquarters will be the situs for the Sixth Annual Rock Creek Casting Competition where over 30 expert fly casters will vie for this year's honor and the privilege of having their name engraved as our 2008 winner on the perpetual trophy that daily resides in the Missoula, Montana headquarters of the Grizzly Hackle (whose link is found on the right hand side of Der Blog).
The American bald eagle, the symbol of this great country, proudly resides here in Montana and proudly salutes each of you with our fervent hopes and wishes that this special day is, indeed, special for each of you.
Best to all from the scene of it all,
Rock Creek Ron
