Greetings, Fellow Extravaganzers!
This chilled February pre-valentine comes to you from the site of our summer's activities: Extravaganza 2008 Central Headquarters.
As you can tell from the attached photos, things are a bit nippy in these parts with now-blowing snow outside my MT office window (with outside snow now packed three feet up to eye level). The snow levels are prolific this year--about three times of that of last year this time--which bodes well for our fishing adventures to start in just 4.3333 months ahead: A stout, high mountain snow pack leads towards a healthy late May and early June "runoff"--the process by which the beginning of summer's heat melts that pack and sends its liquefied contents rushing downhills into rivulets that flow into creeks and, eventually, into our MT river system. It is that runoff that cleanses the river systems, awakens bug life, and is the alarm clock for the emergence of winter-dormant trout...right about the time of our late June arrival(s).
